Starting a Business & Writing a Business Plan

Join us with SBA’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) of Hudson County. Al Izzi and Ryan Silvestre will conduct a workshop that will focus on the assessment process an entrepreneur has to undertake to start a business. You will review the different types of business entities, learn how to write a business plan and find out about the sources of funding for small business.

Presenters:

Alfonso J. Izzi is a Professor of Finance at Montclair State and New Jersey City Universities. He is CEO of PTR Resources, a boutique consulting firm that specializes in obtaining funding for small business entrepreneurs and serves as Chief Operating Office of the SBA’s Small Business Development Center in Jersey City directing counseling services for small business entrepreneurs. Mr. Izzi has over 40 years of business experience, holding senior management positions at New York City’s Financial Information Services Agency (FISA), IBM, Pfizer, NUI and AJI Corporation. He received his MBA in Finance from the University of Connecticut and Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Providence College. Mr. Izzi has authored and published “Small Business..Do it the Right Way!” He is a decorated combat veteran having served in Vietnam.

Ryan Silvestre is a senior business consultant at the Small Business Development Center, specializing in corporate finance and turnaround management. Mr. Silvestre has over 10 years of corporate finance experience covering a broad range of transaction types in different industries, including but not limited to, debt and equity raises, recapitalizations, valuation modeling and has assisted on several middle market M&A and LBO deals. Also, he has provided basic forensic accounting services to help develop greater efficiencies in the operations of small businesses allowing them to become more bankable.

Funded in part through a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S Small Business Administration, the New Jersey Small Business Development Centers (NJSBDC) network is also funded by the state of New Jersey and is hosted by Rutgers Business School: Newark and New Brunswick.
